MURIEL ANDERSON
JOHN JORGENSON
The Webb Sisters
I was lucky enough to attend the concert that Leonard Cohen held a few years ago in the Verona Arena. It was the 24 September 2012. There I saw and heard this marvel of sound, voice and elegance that are Hattie and Charley, The Webb Sisters. John Jorgenson told me about it, but I didn't imagine that I would come out of our amphitheater bewitched by such beauty.
I have to say thank you very much to John who, collected my desire to bring these two great artists to Soave, he told them about the festival and convinced them to be with us.
Thank you, caro John! I am happy!
Due parole su The Webb Sisters:
Born into a musical family in Kent, in England, Charley and Hattie are the Webb Sisters. Dynamic performers with expressive voices and poignant harmonies, the Webb Sisters are original and intelligent multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters who create compelling live performances. Their singing and their way of playing (arpa, guitar, mandolin, pianoforte, drums) they draw inspiration from the folk and pop traditions of Great Britain and the United States. The Webb Sisters have recorded three albums, creating a following throughout their travels, getting Album, Single and Record of the Week on iTunes and BBC Radio Two. Charley and Hattie performed twice for Princess Anne and once for Queen Elizabeth. Their latest album “SAVAGES” was produced by producer Peter Asher, winner of numerous Grammy Awards, and contains “Baroque Thoughts”, winner of the International Music Award for “Best Adult Contemporary Song”. The Webb Sisters were chosen to join Leonard Cohen's live band on its first tour in fifteen years. They were kept 247 shows around the world between 2008 and the 2010. Two DVDs and audio albums documenting the tour's musical performances were released, “Live in London” e “Songs from the Road”. On the DVD “Live In London”, Charley and Hattie are featured in the song “If It Be Your Will”. Charley and Hattie received an invitation to sing on Sting's album “If On A Winter’s Night…” and in the version of “God Only Knows” on Natalie Maines (The Dixie Chicks), which was included in the series finale “Big Love” of HBO. The Webb Sisters toured with Jamie Cullum, Rufus Wainwright, Jason Mraz, James Morrison, Block, Katie Melua, That's Joe Echo. The Webb Sisters represented the United Kingdom at America's 400th anniversary celebrations, they contributed songs to several major television programs (come “Cane” on CBS) and recorded a pro-peace song “Fortune of Soldiers” for a tribute album to Judy Collins “Born To The Breed” alongside Dolly Parton and Chrissie Hynde.
