No historian or music critic said it. I say it, that I had the privilege of sharing almost thirty years of life and friendship with him, starting from that 8 December 1998, when I met him at the “Landmark Hotel” in London to convince him to be my guest in the edition 1999 of the festival. I still remember, after the mutual introduction and handshake (the hugs came later) than to his question “What do you offer me?” I replied “An excellent hotel in my small but beautiful village of Soave, excellent food and even better wine!”. And him: “And… as for the compensation?”. Io: "Nothing! I can't afford the luxury of paying even a fee...". Whereupon Tommy, he quickly summed up: "At that time, if I understood correctly, you offer me a beautiful country, great food, excellent wine and no money… It seems like an excellent proposal to me! I will come with great pleasure!!”.

This was the beginning of a friendship that has never faded, and which is also confirmed by his new and highly anticipated participation.

It's not easy today to be able to have Tommy Emmanuel, an artist universally recognized as the genius of the acoustic guitar, on the billboard. We all know it, ma, thanks to the friendship that binds us, we have him with us once again.
